Welcome to Metro West GLRS
Metro West Georgia Learning Resource System (GLRS) is a part of the statewide network of eighteen sites that provide professional learning, technical assistance and resources to educators, leaders, and families of students with disabilities. Metro West GLRS serves the following Local Education Agencies (LEAs): Clayton County, Cobb County, Douglas County and Forsyth County; Atlanta Public Schools and Marietta City Schools, as well as more than thirty Metro Area State Charter Schools along with Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and State Schools.
Metro West GLRS provides professional learning opportunities for specified target audiences within the school districts that we serve through in-person, virtual, and hybrid options. To meet the unique needs of the individual LEAs, custom-designed professional learning opportunities are conducted based on state, regional, and district needs, as well as school-level requests. We also support our LEAs through collaborative communities.
The Metro West GLRS team provides professional learning, technical assistance, coaching, follow-up and support for various topics such as:
- General Supervision-Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), IEP Support and Development
- Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) - Math & Literacy
- High Leverage Practices (HLPs) and Evidence-Based Practices (i.e. Check & Connect)
- Supporting and Implementing Graduation and Dropout Prevention Initiatives
- Supporting new special education teachers, leaders, and instructional coaches
- Transition planning
- Early Intervention
- Accessibility and Assistive Technology tools and strategies

- Metro RESA-wide professional learning courses for Teachers/Leaders/Staff who support students with disabilities- (on a variety of topics, based on regional needs)

- New Teacher Induction (NTI) / GA Teacher Provider Retention Project (TPRP)
- Resource and informational updates
- On-site professional learning in various districts, to meet the specific needs of individual state charter schools or districts
