School Improvement Specialists

The School Improvement (SI) division of Metro RESA provides tools and resources to build the capacity of districts and schools as they determine the effectiveness of actions, strategies, interventions, and professional learning. We utilize best practices for data analysis, needs assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating effective processes for a coherent instructional program. The Metro RESA SI department works collaboratively with other state and regional agencies such as the GADOE, GLRS, and MRESA Content Area and Wraparound Services divisions to provide seamless support for districts and schools that will increase positive student outcomes.

Schools that are identified as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement School (CSI) based on the criteria listed below:

1. the lowest performing 5% of all Title I schools
2. high schools with a graduation rate of ≤ 67%
3. schools identified as Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI)
       for the same student group(s) for six years

CSI schools are identified every three years by the Georgia Department of Education.

CSI schools are assigned a RESA School Improvement Specialist (SIS) to work collaboratively with the school improvement teams to build instructional capacity. The SIS actively serves on the school’s Continuous Improvement Team until the CSI school exits the federally identified school list.
