Comprehensive GaTAPP

GaTAPP stands for the Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy, which is an alternate, job-embedded teacher preparation and certification program in Georgia for individuals who hold a bachelor's degree or higher in a non-education field but lack traditional teacher education coursework. The Comprehensive GaTAPP program at Metro RESA is an 18-month to 2-year, performance-based pathway that combines classroom-based training with on-the-job experience, supported by a team of supervisors, mentors, and administrators, to guide candidates toward a clear, renewable teaching certificate.  

The Comprehensive GaTAPP program serves all certification fields. It is the only choice for those certifying in Elementary Education, Special Education, and CTAE field.

GaTAPP is designed for individuals who:

  • Desire to transition into teaching from another career path;
  • Did not complete a teacher education program; and

Have never held a clear and renewable (professional) teaching certificate.
